What’s The Deal?

the martini shaker* is written and curated by creative generalist Jeremy Fuksa for people with creative interests and/or careers. It is meant as a playground for inspiration, a hotbed of speculation, and a discussion forum on issues that face creatives every day.

The topics of discussion are very broad, and I like to keep it that way. In the end, this really a canvas for my thoughts, and I’m glad you choose to come along for the ride.

Who is this dude anyway? Why does he call himself a creative generalist?

Excellent question. I am just a man… a mere mortal. However I’ve bestowed the title of creative generalist upon myself because it seems to fit pretty well.

Not only am I an interactive art director, I’ve also spent a large part of my career creating motion graphics for television commercials. I also design for print and whatever new gizmo media style might be on the horizon.

I’m a musician too! I started college with a major in music education, so I can play a wide variety of instruments at various levels of proficiency. Maybe, if you’re really nice, I might release some of the songs I’ve worked on over the years.

I’m not to be confused for Steve, who is a great creative generalist in his own right.

Fair enough… but 3rdmartini? What’s that about?

The domain name/identity 3rdmartini hearkens back to older days of advertising when deals were made and fates were sealed over the fabled three martini lunch. Basically, the whimsy associated with those lunches makes me think of an advertising world that was wrapped up in paragraphs of copy and simple calls to action… think Burma Shave. Ahhh… those were the days.

I wanted threemartinilunch.com but it was taken. Looks like they’re putting it to good use.

Of course, the days of the three martini lunch are all but gone, but they’ve been replaced by days on the golf course, nights at the wine bar, and other assorted business diversions… diversions that I enjoy very much.

Fingers in the social media pie

There are tons of places online for a person to get involved, to discuss, to express, to leave their mark. Here’s a few of the places that have left stray data in my browser cache:
