Toilet bowl cleaner goes BOOM.

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

As is apparently the rule on this site, for every few insightful and relevant posts I write, I like to spice it up with something completely useless.

For the past few years, my brother-in-law and I have had a pre-4th of July tradition of making a few Works Bombs to get things going. If you know what those are, you might know it’s a pretty juvenile thing to do, but the amateur Mythbusters in us enjoy doing it.

The “bomb” works when the agent in the toilet cleaner reacts with the aluminum foil to create pressurized hydrogen and an exothermic reaction.

Anyway, I was clearing out the camcorder yesterday when I remembered that we had footage of this year’s jackassery. I put it together and thought I would share.

Meat falls off the bone…

A few days ago some of the advertising blogs caught wind of a commercial (seen below) for a hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint in Midwest City, OK named Mr. Spriggs BBQ.

I made a trip down to Oklahoma for the weekend, so I decided while I was in Oklahoma City on Saturday, I’d drop by Mr. Spriggs, check out the atmosphere, and pick up a few t-shirts for the guys at work who are obsessed with the jingle. One listen and you’ll see why (incidentally, here’s the Myspace profile of the guy performing the song).

I don’t think that they know they’re on their way to Internet fame, because they seemed a little confused why I wanted to come in and buy a bunch of t-shirts. I certainly didn’t use the term “meme,” because I think that would have made matters worse. They didn’t really have t-shirts available, so I bought some of the employee t-shirts. The back of the shirt is great. They’re slogan is “We Have The Sauce.”

You certainly do Mr. Spriggs, and it drips with every baby making note of your jingle. Barry White would be proud.

Sorry for the list of tests!

I was testing Vagablog on my Treo and I was getting an error message when posting. Obviously, everything was coming through just fine. Sorry.

Speaking of Vagablog, aside from this error message I’m getting, I’ve been impressed with this application over the other open-source Palm OS blogging application, Plogit even though Plogit didn’t yield an error message when I originally posted this entry.

I decided to look for a Palm-based blogging app after posting the previous post via email this weekend and found that due to a text encoding issue, lots of extra goop got added. That’s no fun to read.

Incidentally, here’s the error message I’m getting from Vagablog. Anyone familiar with Vagablog and Wordpress’s XML-RPC interface please chime in and help if you can.
