Inspiration Monday: Ron Mueck
I received a link last week to examples of artist Ron Mueck’s hyper-realistic sculptures and was absolutely transfixed.
Yes, his lifelike attention to detail is astounding, but what really impresses me is his ability to lend that same realism at a variety of scales. Not a lot of his work is actually life-size. Some of it is very small, while other pieces (like the baby head shown) are massive. One sculpture of a boy that he made in 1999 is nearly 16 feet tall. But, when shot in forced perspective, is so realistic you’d think he was crouching down next to someone in real life.
Look for more pieces of creative work to inspire the rest of your week every Monday.
