Olaf The Red

A month or so ago I mentioned that I was going to be doing a few creative experiments. I’m happy to say that the first of those experiments is complete.

Ever since Nathan was born I’ve been singing silly songs to him. Much in the same way I sing silly dog treat jingles to my dog Stella. Some of these songs have been pretty catchy, and I thought it would be fun if I did something with them.

Of course, recording the songs was a given, but I thought I could do more with these songs. When I sing them, I get distinct vivid images in my head of what these songs represent to me visually. I thought it would be fun if I brought those images to life by creating short music videos for each of these songs.

Tonight I bring you Olaf The Red, the first in this video series.

The song “Olaf The Red” came about a month or so ago when Nathan really began growing. He’s large for his age and when he gets giddy he can look a bit oafish with his big grin. I thought that he looked like a little viking. The rest is history.

I did all the animation in HD (click here to view in HD), my first time to do a real project in that format. The end result looks just like I envisioned. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to the next installment.
